Description
An API design flaw in WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit allows untrusted web content to unexpectedly perform IP connections, DNS lookups, and HTTP requests. Applications expect to use the WebPage::send-request signal handler to approve or reject all network requests. However, certain types of HTTP requests bypass this signal handler.

wpewebkit isn't used by anything of importance in the archive, except for cog, an example container for wpewebkit. There is no point in attempting to backport newer wpewebkit versions to the archive. As such, marking as ignored. It is not feasible to fix webkitgtk, qtwebkit-source, and qtwebkit-opensource-src. Marking them as ignored. It is no longer possible to build new webkit2gtk versions on jammy and earlier. Marking as ignored. Since 2.54.0, webkit2gtk no longer builds on big-endian platforms due to the switch to Skia. It is no longer possible to update stable Ubuntu releases to newer versions of webkit2gtk. Marking as deferred for now. As of 2026-05-06, there is no fix for this issue from webkit2gtk developers.
